the only creature that has been captured on film was big foot back in the 60's and even then they have tried to recreate it mopvements and ther is no way that a man can make the walking movements of the big foot on the film that im am sure every one has seen

hello my name is wolfpaw999 and i am a huge phanatic of the michigan dogman and the beast of bray road. i have been researching it for the last couple years, purchasing linda s godfreys books along the way. i myself have been to bray road but sadly saw nothing. i did however get a very eerie feeling. i am not sure if it was just nerves but it definatly felt like we were not alone as we drove on the dark road through the corn feilds. anyway, i have the dogman song on my ipod and i listen to it non stop. i love the keybroad tones that are in it and i was wondering if there are any existant sheets for it to play on piano? thank you and i will be very greatful if you were to find it for me!
thank you

I'm a little bummed and embarrassed to find out that this whole film was hoaxed. I spent hours studying that film and was sure it was real! I do applaud Mike for making a very realistic creature from everyday things, it just proves that you don't need millions of dollars to create something that captures the imaginations of hundreds (perhaps thousands) of bored people, Hollywood should take note. I'll eventually get over this and I am glad to know that any money that this hoax helped generate goes to a very good cause. I guess I just have to grin and bare it and wait for the 25th anniversary of The Legend and buy that one as well!LOL Thanks and keep up the good work.

ok i heard from my friend that the dogman was going from the u.p down to the l.p and was attacking every three years about 50 miles apart and if it stayed it the path they thought it was goin too it would be in the grand rapids, freemont, and newaygo area by 2012. (i live in newaygo:/) but is that just a coincidence or not that the 25 anniversary is that same year? also if you did fake the gable film were there all the sightings and story's about it beforehand?

After remembering that I planned to check out the site, and reading your last two blog posts, I figured I should show a little support. Thanks for a few months of fun ( I was very late in discovering Gable)! I found the first film on youtube, and then some people proving it to be either a hoax or real footage (that one always seemed harder..). Then the second video popped up. I thought of it from time to time, and then found out MQ was doing a show on it!

I totally agree with Linda: thanks for a welcome distraction from the mundane!

I totally admire you and your bravery to reveal the truth and people shouldn't be mad that that wonderful piece of art is not real because it made you ask the what if and it filled most of our boring lives with something to talk about other than the economy or whatever new tragedy was on the news or online. I want to thank you and mike for bringing something intesting and aweinspering to the world and gave me many many hours of debate with my friends . Once again Thank You have a great day.

Can someone tell me what the ''clue" that proves its fake, that ''everyone missed" that Steve mentioned, in the website (that I can't find, I guess it no longer exists) The Gable Film Anatomy of an Unintenional Hoax?
Under this post it has the picture of the Dogman standing up, but of course that scene wasn't in the video released to the public, is that what he's referring to? Or is there a scene in the public one that is a dead giveaway that its fake? If there is I must've missed it, I've watched the video about a billion times!

I do feel a bit had. Steve says he said it was a fake but he didn't seem to anytime around the video gained so much attention. Still I'm glad at least the money went to charity, and I hope people still order it even knowing the truth.

I sincerely doubt that this video put anyone into a terrified stupor. There are thousands of INSECTS in the U.S. alone that can kill more efficiently as just as swiftly as the "Dog Man" depicted in the films, so even if the "Dog Man" existed, you would be in no greater danger than normal when walking out of your door every morning. It's comparable to hearing about a deadly hit and run, and then not leaving home for the next few months believing that the next victim will be you. If anyone lived their life in fear during this Gable hoax, they likely have an anxiety or paranoia disorder and should consult a doctor.

Back to my original point, this was a very entertaining, harmless joke. He made no personal financial gain out of this, cheated no one out of money, and while I am sure he gained some incredible publicity that is likely invaluable for a musician, there are much more insidious, yet socially accepted, ways that performers gain attention. In the end, even though Mr. Cook's attitude could improve, this whole hoax is utterly benign, and anyone not directly involved that continues to heckle Mr. Cook needs to get a life.

Indeed, this hoax was well done, satisfying it's purpose or goal of "entertainment". But was this entertainment for the hoaxers alone, or were they sincerely hoping that all whom viewed the video would be "entertained"? (I'm sure Mr. Cook is echoing the same passionate plea of the Gladiator Maximus... "ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!?) Indeed, I must confess that the video was well done; yet not sure I would deem it as "appropriate", unless Mr. Cook aimed to lecture people and the media as Mark Twain did about blindly accepting superstitions. (I have yet to hear Cooks exhortation and/or admonishment)

It truely did compell people, including myself, to think "huh, I guess I'll never be going into the deep woods without a machine gun!). But this wasn't the point of the hoaxers to make people have fear or anxiety about trekking into the deep woods of northern michigan. But to be serious (if I may), I believe it did cause people to stir in both FEAR and CONSUMPTION. (Might this be the American Way?) Let me elaborate... I believe it created hoards of internet users (yes, you and I) to become fearful of this bizaare and seemily very real monster, compelling them to consume as much knowledge and social debate about this monster (and other monsters). Consider the greatest hoax ever, the Bigfoot video known as the "Patterson/Gemlin Film". With this hoax, there has been not only an immeasurable amount of fear (and curiousity), but this hoax has compelled you and I to consume as much knowledge as available; which ultimately has compelled TV producers and even Hollywood to put up alot of money to create documentaries and even movies (Yes, Harry and the Hendersons is a favorite of mine). And look at how many scientists have been interviewed and given special assignments to investigate delicate evidence, er... hoaxes. It would be really interesting to find out how much money has been generated by these tremendous hoaxes, er, lies and deceptions. Wouldn't you agree?

Hmmm, that brings up an intriquing thought; to whom do these hoaxes really benefit? According to Mr. Cook and his accomplice(s), they did not benefit financially, yet did benefit (perhaps) by their participation on the History Channel series Monsterquest. Certainly they would be adament to confess that they benefitted by the depth of "entertainment" that was achieved. I wonder if their personal businesses took a pay-cut or a pay-raise? Certainly only these individuals can validate what or how they benefited. And how did they benefit personally? Are they more respected for their ability to decieve and convince people (even their friends) to believe in a lie that was sincerely created with the intent of "entertainment"? Did their friends and/or families/spouses react with support of this endeavor to incite pure "entertainment?" Perhaps. But perhaps not...maybe they reacted with embarrasment for believing something so rediculous. I'm sure this embarrasment was the result many individuals whom believed Mark Twain's hoax, which he sincerely created because he wanted people to recognize how foolish they were to blindly accept superstitions and legends.

My guess is, the reality for persons involved in elaborate hoaxes, such as Tom Biscardi (Remember the frozen bigfoot in Georgia?) is that these persons (though passionate in their own peculiar ways and purposes) have more to lose than more to gain with creating these truely "Entertaining" Hoaxes. Or they are just very bored with their own lives. Unless... UNLESS they conclude their hoax with a deliberate life lesson in the same vein as the great Mark Twain sucessfully concluded with his hoax.

At any rate... what a tremendous hoax that has caused many people to focus their fears, anxieties, and curiousities on consuming as much knowledge on this hoax, and other hoaxes that garner so much attention.

ARE WE NOT ENTERTAINED!!??

Yes Mr. Cook, I AM ENTERTAINED!
