Wow!! Thank You Alpena!

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

What a day we had in Alpena on Saturday. After traveling all across Michigan doing live appearances, I can safely say we have never met a welcome quite as warm and friendly as we received on the “sunrise side.”

Our hosts from WATZ Radio, including morning man Steve Wright, midday personality Susie Martin, and sales ace Jim Spleet, had our display tent and tables all set up for us when we arrived at Perch’s IGA around 10 am.

From that moment on, the day is a bit of a blur. The line started forming almost immediately, and ran 30 deep almost all four hours we were there. I performed the song twice, once to a large crowd, and the second time to a smaller but no less enthusiastic group.

But the most amazing thing is, we nearly sold out of every item we had! Over 100 CD/DVD sets, all of our t-shirts, and almost all of our poster inventory. I signed hundreds of autographs, on everything from CDs to a handcarved dogman figurine, to several pumpkins!

Pam and I want to thank everyone who helped us enjoy one of our best days in the 22 years since writing “The Legend.” Especially the crew at Perch’s IGA, who purchased and gave away over 1 thousand Halloween pumpkins to the kids – you guys are amazing! But also to the hundreds of people who came out, stood in line in the cold for so long, and showed us the community spirit of Alpena. You should be proud of your home town.  We can’t wait to come back!
